The Cardinals are the 2nd 9 win team to reach the Super Bowl, the only other team was the 1979 Los Angeles Rams who were beaten by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With Arizona's 9 wins in the regular season, you have to ask the question are they the worst team ever to be playing for a championship? In terms of being underdogs, Arizona isn't even close to being the biggest dog ever. It is hard to say who the worst team to compete in a Super Bowl was, especially when you consider 1984-1996 when the NFC dominated the AFC. Leaving Arizona out, here is a list in no particular order of the 5 worst Super Bowl Teams of all time, I did not take into account blowouts in the Super Bowl as a factor.
1. The 2000 New York Giants
2. The 1985 New England Patriots
3. The 1996 New England Patriots
4. The 1979 Los Angeles Rams
5. The 1989 Denver Broncos
Arizona won their 3 playoff games to reach the Super Bowl, so give them credit. The Cardinals are 7 point underdogs to Pittsburgh on Sunday, but how would they match up to the rest of the league on a nuetral field in a fictional Super Bowl. Here is how I broke down Arizona's chances.
New England -3 1/2 Arizona
Arizona Pick-Em Miami
Arizona -2 1/2 NY Jets
Arizona -8 1/2 Buffalo
Pittsburgh -7 Arizona
Baltimore -5 1/2 Arizona
Arizona - 9 1/2 Cleveland
Arizona - 12 1/2 Cincinnati
Tennessee -5 Arizona
Indianapolis -3 Arizona
Arizona -2 Houston
Arizona -6 1/2 Jacksonville
Arizona -1 San Diego
Arizona - 3 1/2 Denver
Arizona -10 1/2 Oakland
Arizona -13 1/2 Kansas City
NY Giants -5 Arizona
Philadelphia -2 Arizona
Dallas - 2 1/2 Arizona
Arizona -1 1/2 Washington
Arizona -1 Minnesota
Arizona Pick-Em Chicago
Arizona -6 1/2 Green Bay
Arizona - 16 1/2 Detroit
Carolina -3 Arizona
Arizona Pick-Em Atlanta
Arizona -1 New Orleans
Arizona Pick-Em Tampa Bay
Arizona -11 1/2 St. Louis
Arizona - 9 1/2 Seattle
Arizona -5 1/2 San Francisco
I would have Arizona as an underdog against 9 teams and put them as a pick-em against another 4. I still think Pittsburgh wins this one 37-20 and Arizona gets added to that above list of the 5 worst teams ever to play in a Super Bowl.

Those were some bad blowouts that the Denver Broncos were a part of and you could argue that without John Elway or Dan Reeves, Denver would have never gotten that far. I can see why you would have a Denver team in the top five.
You have Detroit basically winning tonight at the Target Center? The T-Wolves are hotter than a firecracker in July and they're playing at home and the Pistons are struggling. I'll be at the game tonight so we'll see.
I put the 1989 Broncos on the list because they won a weak AFC that season. Their defense was sketchy. It was Steve Atwater's rookie season. The team had little to no running game with Bobby Humphrey. Also, can you name one good receiver or lineman Denver had on that team? You are right without John Elway and Dan Reeves the Broncos would have never gotten that far in 1989 and would have saved themselves the embarrassment of a 55-10 loss to the 49ers.
Another team I was close to putting on the list was the 1998 Atlanta Falcons, speaking of Reeves. I didn't put them on because of a 14-2 regular season record, but that team had no business beating a 15-1 Minnesota team in the NFC Championship that season.
Sorry about your Wolves. I know they are blistering hot but it can't last forever, the team is just too young. Thats why Detroit won last night.
