According to Sports Illustrated, Yankees 3rd Baseman Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids during the 2003 season. In 2003 Rodriguez won the American League MVP in his final year with the Texas Rangers.
Alex Rodriguez didn't commment on the allegations, he just said for people to talk to the union. Rodriguez's agent, Scott Boras and the MLB Union have not retruned phone calls from reporters. The Yankees and Rangers also haven't issued any statements or returned any phone calls.
In 2003 steroid use was not illegal in baseball, it was the year the league did testing on players to determine if they had to start mandatory testing and evoking a penalty for use. The results of a test, if positive, was supposed to be sealed and the information leaked out. Rodriguez was one of 104 players who tested positive in 2003. Also, according to reports Barry Bonds name was not on the list of those who had tested positive in 2003.
