Tennessee Making Noise but Not All is Good

Congradulations to Tennessee Women's Basketball Head Coach Pat Summitt, who won her 1,000th career game last night by blasting Georgia by 30. Summitt is the first to reach the 1000 plateau in any gender of College Basketball. Out of the 1,000 wins Summitt now has, 8 of those are for National Championships, which makes the milestone even more impressive. Summitt will not win another title this season, but if she remains at Tennessee until she retires, it wouldn't surprise me if she gets 11-13 total national championships. Here is the question in regards to Summitt, can she be a successful men's Head Coach? I think yes.

What is new Tennessee football Head Coach Lane Kiffin thinking? First, he guarantees that his team will go into the "Swamp" and beat defending champ Florida next season and then he calls out Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer for a recruiting violation when the violation wasn't even a violation. Kiffin shot his mouth of saying when one of his star recruits was on campus the recruit recevied a phone call from Meyer. Kiffin continued his rant by saying Florida attempted to cheat and the recruit still chose Tennessee. In the end it was Kiffin who was in violation of SEC rules by calling out a coach of another school in public on a false aquisation. Meyer was cleared of any wrong-doing because there is no rule saying other schools can't contact a recruit when he is doing an on-campus tour. Kiffin needs to pipe down before he gets on the bad side of all the other SEC schools. Idiot.

The Kansas City Chiefs have named former Arizona Offensive Coordinator, Todd Haley as the team's new Head Coach. Keep an eye on what happens with Tony Gonzales and Larry Johnson. Both supposedly want out of Kansas City. Johnson is the one who should go, with his bad attitude and slowing legs, however it will be hard to trade Johnson since he is due 5 million bucks next season. Gonzales is the more likely candidate to leave the Chiefs. He is 33 but still is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the game. It is rumored that the Bills, Packers and Giants are interesed in Tony, and some of those teams may be willing to give up a 4th round draft pick to get him.

What will it take to make Arizona WR Anquan Boldin happy? Larry Fitzgerald said he would restructure his contract if it would help Boldin stay in Arizona, and Boldin is still going to leave anyway. Boldin said the relationship between him and the front office was unrepairable. This is a true example about a guy that is in the NFL for the dollars and not for winning. How do you put up with Arizona for so long and now that the team has finally reached a Super Bowl bolt out of town?

It is clear now that Ray Lewis will not play for a discounted price just to stay in Baltimore. According to reports, Lewis has interest in the Cowboys and the Jets, with the condition that Brett Favre returns next season as the teams QB. I never thought I would see it, but Baltimore you are about lose one of the best Linebackers' of all time.

Last night the Lakers/Celtics game went into OT, with the Lakers pulling it out by 1 to end Boston's 12 game win streak. LA has now swept the Celtics this season and is currently 5-0 on their East Coast road-trip that wraps up Sunday in Cleveland. The Lakers are really showing some heart since Andrew Bynum went down.

Tonight the #1 and #2 2007 NBA draft picks will finally play against one another. It took a while, but we finally get to see Greg Oden go against Kevin Durrant. Should be interesting.

The picks....2-1-1 last night....it would have been 3-0-1 if Boston's Kevin Garnett doesn't foul out in the 4th quarter on a ticky tac call. Overall I'm now 28-19-1 ATS.
